TFT was appointed to project manage and provide sustainability advice for the substantial refurbishment and extension of this 1960’s mixed-use building in the heart of Farringdon.
Works include conversion of the undercroft car park to office use, extending terrace areas to the rear to provide further office space and adding an additional floor on the roof to provide residential accommodation. Accordingly, there have been substantial third party issues which the team have had to overcome to maximise the development of the building.
The whole team have had to work very closely with Camden Planning Department to ensure that when the application was submitted in February 2011, it already had the support of the Planning Authority.
TFT provided strategic sustainability advice and that included assessing the viability of achieving a BREEAM very good or higher rating. TFT acted as BREEAM assessor and completed pre-assessment work.
The team have worked hard to come up with a solution which cost effectively achieves the requirements of Part L of the 2010 Building Regulations.
