Lead Sustainability Consultant

This is an excellent opportunity to work with the Partner in Charge of sustainability to lead the sustainable development service line predominantly across London and the South East, but also regionally for TFT, forging relationships with both internal and external clients to deliver market leading consultancy advice.

As well as working to develop and grow the service line, you will be working with clients such as abrdn, Derwent, Grosvenor, M&G and The Crown Estate delivering on a mix of project work and strategic development frameworks ranging across speculative CAT A fit-out, new build offices, refurb fit-out and commercial buildings and residential developments, predominantly build to rent and affordable housing.

As a commercially focused consultant, you will be helping us to grow our sustainability services, maintain and further develop client relationships and diversify the range of our current service offering, as well as progressing your own career.

Key accountabilities

  1. Lead large scale projects driving innovation and monitoring the integration of a broad range of sustainability aspects into design, construction and operation. This includes: designing for performance, climate resilience, healthy/sustainable materials and circularity, whole life carbon and life cycle considerations, community and social value, water efficiency, transport and accessibility, customer experience and public realm, aftercare and POE.
  2. Work in conjunction with the Sustainability Partner to develop and lead the sustainability delivery and growth strategy for TFT.
  3. Manage and mentor the sustainability team, including under performance.
  4. Develop and grow opportunities with existing and potential clients and in-house teams to raise the profile of the sustainability service line and wider TFT, through cross-selling of opportunities.
  5. Drive and monitor team financial performance and ensure invoicing is done promptly and on time.
  6. Manage pipeline work and resourcing.
  7. Work directly with our key clients to understand their needs and deliver excellent service. Provide advice to support the successful achievement of specific project outcomes and liaise directly with them to add value by signposting them to new research/industry collaborative opportunities/events, or through raising awareness of best practice.
  8. Proactively engage in business development opportunities and client relationship management.
  9. Preparing case studies and award submission content, and blogs.

Performance Criteria

  1. Degree in relevant sustainability related subject and 8-10 years’ experience within sustainability consultancy. A building sustainability related MSc is desirable.
  2. Experience of delivering complex projects within the built environment, managing project teams, and writing clear and concise reports.
  3. Demonstrable experience of acting as sustainability coordinator and as an advocate for sustainable development.
  4. Ability to help to create, build and manage successful commercial client relationships.
  5. Experience for seeking, bidding for and winning work
  6. Expertise in climate change (adaptation and resilience) and sustainable development (buildings and masterplans), and the business case for action.
  7. BREEAM and WELL AP certified; IEMA or similar professional accreditation.
  8. Experience in carrying out whole life carbon/ embodied carbon assessments using OneClick LCA IMPACT compliant software to support the delivery of client’s net zero carbon aspirations.
  9. Track record of successfully delivering against individual / team financial performance targets.
