The Ice Factory at Ecclestone Place in London's Belgravia has led many lives, from coach house to power station, over nearly 200 years of use.
Now it’s reborn as a multi-use space with the help of our sustainability specialists who took on the challenge of maximising the circularity and overall environmental performance of the scheme.
This is one of the first refurbishments to apply Grosvenor's Sustainable Development Brief which we also co-created. The brief is a framework for incorporating sustainability measures which align with industry best practice and the Net Zero Building trajectory.
What have we achieved with Ice Factory?
🧱 Retained the existing brick construction and incorporated it into the amazing new building façade, to create a substantial embodied carbon saving as well as an attractive and unique building identity
🌞 Incorporated a sawtooth-shaped roof to improve daylight, and north facing windows with low transmittance glazing to prevent excessive solar gain
🚿 Provided generous end-of-journey facilities to enable more sustainable transportation
♻️ 99.88% of waste diverted from landfill
⚡ EPC A (offices) and EPC B rating (commercial spaces)
🌿 Biodiverse landscaping
With space for fitness, fine dining, offices and more, the Ice Factory’s next chapter looks to be just as varied as its life to-date.
