TFT oversaw the external wall remedial work at Canterbury Christ University, under a license to alter. This project involved replacing the original combustible High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) cladding panels, the Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) insulated render system, and curtain wall infill/spandrel panels with non-combustible alternatives. Additionally, new fire cavity barriers were installed. Petros Court consists of five purpose-built managed student accommodation blocks developed by LGIM, located in the southeast of Canterbury, Kent.

TFT had previously been involved in the initial development monitoring of the scheme, allowing us to leverage our existing knowledge to facilitate the project. The project presented some challenges as the accommodation remained fully occupied by students throughout.

TFT collaborated with a specialist façade engineer and fire engineer, who we appointed on behalf of the client, to successfully deliver the project. This work also provided an opportunity to upgrade the thermal insulation of the external walls. This effort has resulted in student accommodation that meets the requirements of the Building Safety Act and is more energy efficient.
