      Job purpose

      We have an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Building surveyor to join our Cardiff office with excellent career progression opportunities.

      You will be part of an expanding team working on a wide range of building surveying disciplines in a commercial environment. You will be part of a very supportive environment with full support provided to achieve your APC, which includes  attending our corporate graduate training days, which bring together national experts to up skill both TFT and client graduates.

      Reporting directly to Partner in Charge of the Cardiff office.

      7.0       Working to complete APC competencies

      Performance criteria

      1.0       BSc (Hons) or MSc Building Surveying (RICS accredited course), 2:1 or above

      2.0       Experience in a commercial BS firm would be an advantage e.g. sandwich placement

      3.0       Confident in talking to clients and building relationships

      Skills and behaviour

      1.0       Must be a good team player but able to work independently

      2.0       Confident, client facing communicator both verbally and in writing

      3.0       Commercially driven and ambitious to achieve

      Key accountabilities

      Primarily working within the commercial sector, undertaking:

      1.0       Refurbishment and redevelopment projects

      2.0       Contract administration

      3.0       Technical Due Diligence

      4.0       Pre-acquisition surveys

      5.0       Acting as Monitoring Surveyor

      6.0       General building surveying commercial work e.g. Dilapidations

      Performance criteria                                                       

      1.0       MRICS with minimum 3 years PQE

      2.0       Degree in Building Surveying

      3.0       Strong Technical Due Diligence survey experience

      4.0       Excellent report writing skills

      5.0       Expertise in general building surveying i.e. contract administration and dilapidations

      6.0       Experience of working in a pro-active commercial environment

      7.0       Sound knowledge of building contracts in a commercial context

      8.0       Able to meet fee targets and generate new business through building successful client relationships

      9.0       Commercial awareness

      10.0     Embraces technology to deliver reports efficiently

      11.0     High level of up to date technical building knowledge

      Context

      Tuffin Ferraby Taylor is a professional building consultancy with over 43 years in business.  We are enjoying the success achieved through becoming one of the largest independent practices of our kind. We have over 120 partners and employees operating from a network of offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Guildford, London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

      TFT has successfully develop a Cost Consultancy service line in the south east and as part of the business growth aspirations, are looking to build upon these successes in the Midlands.

      Key accountabilities

      1.0       To deliver cost planning and cost management services in relation to construction projects and in support of the Cost Consultancy team in the Midlands and London.

      2.0       To deliver and develop the cost consultancy service line in the Midlands and support Cost Consultancy growth. Expand the existing offer to key clients within residential, office, retail and industrial portfolios.

      3.0       Help expand the cost consultancy service line within TFT.

      Performance criteria

      1.0       Sound knowledge of building contracts

      2.0       Ability to meet and exceed fee targets

      3.0       Experience in the commercial, residential, Industrial and retail sector.

      4.0       Ability to demonstrate experience of good client relationship management and self management

      5.0       Proven track record of delivery of successful delivery of commercial cost consultancy at a high level as well as a recognised profile in the area

      Skills and behaviour

      1.0       BSc Quantity Surveying (minimum of 2:1)

      2.0       MRICS qualified

      3.0       Deliver services with autonomy and engender confidence in clients

      4.0       Must be a good team player but able to work independently

      5.0       Confident, client facing communicator both verbally and in writing

      6.0       Commercially focussed:

      6.1       Capable of developing contacts to win new business (particularly in the Midlands)
