      Job purpose

      A new opportunity to become part of the expanding quantity surveying team within our established project consultancy teams, to enhance and support the main business’ growth plans. You will work as part of the Cost Consultancy team, providing high calibre professional advice to key clients.

      Reporting to Partner in Charge and Head of Cost Consultancy.

      Tuffin Ferraby Taylor is a professional building consultancy with over 43 years in business.  We are enjoying the success achieved through becoming one of the largest independent practices of our kind. We have over 120 partners and employees operating from a network of offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Guildford, London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

      TFT has successfully develop a Cost Consultancy service line in the south east and as part of the business growth aspirations, are looking to build upon these successes in the Midlands.

      Key accountabilities

      1.0       To deliver cost planning and cost management services in relation to construction projects and in support of the Cost Consultancy team in the Midlands and London.

      2.0       To deliver and develop the cost consultancy service line in the Midlands and support Cost Consultancy growth. Expand the existing offer to key clients within residential, office, retail and industrial portfolios.

      3.0       Help expand the cost consultancy service line within TFT.

      Performance criteria

      1.0       Sound knowledge of building contracts

      2.0       Ability to meet and exceed fee targets

      3.0       Experience in the commercial, residential, Industrial and retail sector.

      4.0       Ability to demonstrate experience of good client relationship management and self management

      5.0       Proven track record of delivery of successful delivery of commercial cost consultancy at a high level as well as a recognised profile in the area

      Skills and behaviour

      1.0       BSc Quantity Surveying (minimum of 2:1)

      2.0       MRICS qualified

      3.0       Deliver services with autonomy and engender confidence in clients

      4.0       Must be a good team player but able to work independently

      5.0       Confident, client facing communicator both verbally and in writing

      6.0       Commercially focussed:

      6.1       Capable of developing contacts to win new business (particularly in the Midlands)

      6.2       Socially adept and ability to network at business development events

      7.0       Leadership qualities to assist in team and office growth

      8.0       Be involved in creating successful new and existing client relationships through networking and business development

  • Senior Building Services Engineer

    • Objective of the role

      Working as part of the building services (M+E) team the candidate will have the opportunity work on a variety of project and professional instructions across the UK and Europe. 

      The ideal candidate will have professional experience within the building services engineering Industry, ideally with a consultancy, design or facilities services background.

      TFT’s building services (M+E) team consists of 11 engineers across our network of UK offices and provides a platform for professional and career development, and to the opportunity to work on high profile and leading commercial properties and developments.

      The team is expanding rapidly and this is an opportunity for a candidate to make an impact on a key service line within an established business.

      Context

We have over 100 partners and employees operating from a network of offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Guildford, London and Manchester.

      Key accountabilities and deliverables 

      • Performance design and specification of engineering systems in buildings
      • Inspections and reports (technical due diligence, dilapidations) 
      • Producing Engineering Service Lifecycle Plans
      • Maintenance management specification, procurement, and engineering contractor monitoring
      • Preparing budget cost estimates for project designs
      • Ability to advise on Engineering Service Compliance and recent Energy guidance
      • Client meetings and reporting

      Key Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications 

      • Educated to degree level or equivalent, with relevant Engineering Studies
      • Excellent report writing skills
      • MCIBSE, or working towards accreditation
      • Working knowledge of UK standards
      • IT knowledge to include MS Work, Excel and Project plus design software such as Amtech, Dialux and Relux. AutoCAD is preferable.

      • Demonstrable experience within a similar role
      • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people of all levels of seniority
      • Diligent and pro-active
      • Ability to prioritise and act on own initiative
      • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
      • A flexible approach to work with a willingness to travel would be essential
      • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
